Critters and Wild Beasts

Critters and Wild Beasts

I confess to collecting animals as some ladies might confess to collecting shoes. I am not particular about the species, and I am quite happy with a varied assortment.

It began with a production in London of Little Red Riding Hood I was nineteen years old. During rehearsals, the wolf began to write poetry for me. This was not in the script, but something the wolf took upon himself to deliver to me during our breaks. The poetry was surprisingly well-written and, I believe, a turning point in my formative years for the taming of wild beasts.

Regardless of skin, leather, latex, fur, spandex, clothed or naked, the animal spirit shines within. Whether a ferocious wild beast that desires to be tamed or hunted, or a creature that needs to be petted, loved and nurtured, the possibilities for creative play and animal connection are endless.
